[CCA] Saturday Reset - Issue #043

Hi Reader,

Last week you wrote three lines: the Tell, the First Move, the Floor.

Most people spend thirty seconds on the third one and move on. This week we go back to it, because the Floor is the line that decides whether September holds.

Mini Insight

Here is the thing nobody says about a system that stopped working.

It did not fail because you got lazy in August. It failed because you designed it on a good day, for a good day. Full energy, clear calendar, nothing on fire. That version of you is real. That version of you is also rare, and you built a system only they can run.

So the first bad week arrives and the whole thing is unrunnable. Not because you lack discipline. Because there was no lower gear.

A system that survives has two settings, and you have only ever written the first one.

Try-This-Now (≤5 minutes) — the two lanes

  1. The Floor. Three lines, no more. What keeps the week alive when everything else slips? Not what you should do. What actually has to happen or something breaks. Most people’s real floor is smaller than they want to admit — write the small one.
  2. The Fast Lane. Three lines, for the weeks you have room:
    • Big Move: the one thing that moves you forward
    • Promise: the one thing you owe a real person
    • Upkeep: the small habit that keeps things tidy
  3. Put both on the same page, Floor on top. Stop—this counts.

Floor on top is not a formatting note. It is the whole point. On the bad week you should not have to scroll past your ambitions to find your minimum.

Plain-word glossary

  • Floor: the least that keeps the week alive. Three things.
  • Fast Lane: what a good week looks like when you have energy to spend.
  • Worst-day design: building for the week you are dreading, not the week you are picturing.

Pattern Tweaks

  • Architect: You will want the Floor to be thorough. Thorough is the failure. If it does not fit on three lines it is not a floor, it is a second system.
  • Surfer: Write your Floor on a bad day, not today. Today’s version will be too generous and you will not believe it in November.
  • Keeper: You already have a floor; you have never written it down, so it quietly expands. Naming it is what stops the drift.
  • Pilot: Your Floor is whichever promise fails loudest. Put the person’s name next to the line.

Living Profit (why this matters)

  • Energy: A lower gear is what stops a bad week becoming a lost month. You do not recover energy by pushing; you recover it by having somewhere smaller to stand.
  • Relationships: The Floor is where the promises live. When the week goes sideways, the people who depend on you find out whether you designed for that.
  • Income & Opportunities: Nothing moves forward on a system you cannot run. Two gears means you keep going at a lower speed instead of stopping.

On the AI side (skip freely)

Ten days out: the Aligned AI Summit runs September 8–11, online and free, and I am speaking on Tuesday the 8th at 9:45am ET. Registration (aff link): The Aligned Summit.

P.S.: If you only do one of the two lanes this week, do the Floor. The Fast Lane is easy to write when you need it. The Floor never gets written on the day you need it.

Saturday Reset - Issue #44

Hi Reader,157 of you have never told me how you work. That is not a complaint. It is the reason some weeks this letter probably reads like it was written for somebody else. Today I want to fix that, and it takes two questions. Mini Insight Most productivity advice fails for a reason that has nothing to do with the advice. It was built by someone whose wiring is not yours. They needed structure, so they prescribe structure. They thrive on momentum, so they prescribe momentum. It worked for...

Hi Reader, On Monday I sent you one question. Few of you answered (which is its own answer) and the answers that came mostly said the same thing: stay in the lane. So this is the lane. Saturday Reset goes back to what it has always been: productivity that fits your wiring, designed for your worst day. The AI work gets its own home. I’ll tell you where at the very end, in one short note you’re free to skip. That’s the whole change. Now, September. Mini Insight The end of August does something...

Hi Reader,One correction before anything else: I told you the live session was August 12. I’m moving it. Here’s the honest reason — the Sampler Pack lands Monday, August 17, and running a live workshop on the loop five days before you have the thing that runs it was backwards sequencing on my part. The workshop moves to September, after you’ve had a few weeks to put the Sampler to work in your own business — so when you watch the loop run live, your own work is in it, not mine. The Sampler...
